This theory helps better understand what motivates human beings, which puts forward that people are motivated by five basic categories of needs: physiological, safety, love, esteem, and self-actualization. It was proposed that human needs can be organized into a hierarchy.
The theory presents his hierarchy of needs in a pyramid shape, with basic needs at the bottom and more high-level needs at the top. He believed that people could not move up the pyramid to the higher, more intangible needs until their basic needs were adequately fulfilled at the lower levels.
